Hello,
My name is John Hunter,
I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I moved to Summit county Colorado at the age of nineteen where I took a job at a ski/snowboard resort grooming ski slopes and operating snow cats. I lived, worked and skied in some of the hairiest conditions imaginable in Colorado for ten years before I moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1988.
I was a building contractor for many years in California and a beach volleyball player until I had to deal with and continue to deal with nagging injuries. I then decided to continue my studies and returned to school studying multiple subjects, but ultimately found a real love for the photography I had been doing since I was very young. I had some excellent photography teachers at Cabrillo College in Northern California.
I won my first photo contest in high school. And I was honored to be voted the third best photographer in Santa Cruz county in 2014, my first year working full time as a photographer. And winning first place in 2015 and second place in 2016. I have been shooting pictures all over the U.S. and many other countries as well, in very diverse situations and conditions. I believe that I have developed an eye for freezing exceptional moments of grandeur, not to mention, the diversity of the places I have seen and the cultures that I have experienced. My life experiences have greatly influenced what I look for while shooting.
